What a treat this bento box was. We just arrived back from over two months of quarantining in Arizona and were in desperate need of some prime-time sushi. We had planned to celebrate Alix's birthday at Kyoten back in April, however, COVID made that plan a little tough. So, as you can imagine, we were extremely excited to get back to Chicago and get our Kyoten fix!

Now i'm sure a lot of you scoffed at the price tag above, and maybe even exited out before scrolling, but we would like to press that, while this is not at all considered an "affordable" takeout meal, it should be assessed for what it is: a special occasion splurge on truly Michelin-worthy ingredient and prepared sushi.
On to the goods! We were so excited to get home and open up this little box of magic. It took all our self-restraint to even snap a few pictures before digging in. As expected, the quality of the ingredients were right in line with Kyoten's high gastronomic standards. The rolls are filled with the best-quality ingredients including Chef Otto's uniquely vinegared and procured rice. Of course the rice is not going to be at the correct temperature for high-end sushi standards (but this is a small price to pay to make sure we are all staying safe and at home!) The whole box is filled with thoughtfulness and creativity. And maybe we are alone in our weird passion for fresh ginger and wasabi, but we were extremely excited to have personal dollops of each.

While each order is for one person, we have to be frank with you, we don't know what monster is able to finish this box without sharing. We don't care how much you love sushi, we were full at least half-way through! Which is NOT a bad thing. We finished the meal off sipping on the yummy soup and deliciously sweet tamago treat.
